Drive
It’s amazing that I can drive the majority of the state in a day. I can take my time too.
I now want a better understanding of this state. An idea of the geographic regions. It is so vast. Maybe a map that included the ecoregions,
the economic drivers. Perhaps showing the largest elements of of economic activity in each county. I’m curious about the railways too. Further, demographic information would be interesting to explore.
And a history of human inhabitance. I want a more complete atlas. Something beyond the Oregon Blue book. A very useful reference.
I enjoyed driving down the Willamette Valley, and by the time I passed through the Umpqua, I realized how vast these regions are.
I remember in Linguistics they’d talk about how physical barriers would allow a language to split and evolve separately. Culture is similar isn’t it?
Are the physical barriers that exist in the state still there? Not destroyed by the phone, mail, internet?
The urban/rural divide is always apparent. This is very much a purple state. As always more independent.
I’ll have to make a trip further East. Baker county, the Blue Mountains, Ontario (I still think of it as where my family entered the state :laughing face:), and the Alvord Desert. I’d love to see the wild Asses too.
Happy to be down here in Jackson County to see my Mother and Sister. Hoping to get some reading in soon.
